About the Journal
Research Data Journal for the Humanities and Social Science (RDJ) is a peer-reviewed, e-only and Diamond Open Access journal that publishes data papers. These are scholarly publications of medium length that comprehensively document a deposited dataset and put the data in a research context. RDJ thus contributes to the transparency of research, accelerates dissemination and fosters the reuse of scholarly data in compliance with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable). Papers are published in Diamond Open Access, which means all content is freely accessible online at authors do not incur an APC. RDJ was founded by Brill and DANS in 2016 and from 2021 it was funded and published in collaboration with CESSDA. In 2025 ownership of the journal was transferred to the International Institute of Social History and publishing moved to Openjournals. Donors currently include DANS and Utrecht University’s Open Science Fund.
